Let’s face it, as much as you love your adorable pooch, nothing they do can make you love the mess they leave behind when they trample their muddy paws on the freshly cleaned floors of your home! Soggy Doggytakes care of that, leaving you nothing but extra time to play with your fabulous energetic best friend. With their amazing products such as theSoggy Doggy Doormat® and Super Shammy, you can rest assured you won’t be spending all of your time cleaning up after your pup. The Soggy Doggy solutions eliminate one of the most annoying aspects of dog ownership – mucky paw mess!

The Soggy Doggy Doormat® is a great compliment to your home. Available in beige, blue, caramel, and dark chocolate brown, you are sure to find one that fits your decorating needs perfectly! The doormat is a super-absorbent, durable, microfiber-chenille shag mat that absorbs more water and dirt than a typical doormat, dries much faster, (and remains bacteria and odor-free too!) It’s made from millions of textured, woven, ultra-fine strands, which means that the surface area of this doormat is much greater than meets the eye. Best of all, it goes in the washer and dryer and comes out good as new!

Now that their pretty little paws are clean, what about the rest of them? The Soggy Doggy Super Shammy helps you dry off your pup with the same love and comfort you would give your child, because let’s face it, for most of us – our dogs are our children! It is made from the same microfiber “noodle” material as, the Soggy Doggy Doormat®. The fibers of this towel are actually millions of textured, ultra-fine strands woven together. The expansive surface area gives the Super Shammy tremendous absorbing power, and allows it to dry quickly. Best of all? It never gets that “wet dog” smell.. The Super Shammy also has convenient hand pockets for those hard to reach wet underbelly areas, and is able to go right in the washer and dryer. One size dries all.

InStyle Charlotte has recently added an innovative collection of German ceramics to their unique showroom product roster.  Not only are there more colors of mosaic than we ever thought could exist but every tile boasts the ability to reduce homeowner cleaning efforts, decompose bacteria & germs, and act as an odor-eliminator due to a revolutionary surface treatment called Hydrotec. This tremendously functional coating is formed by baking titanium dioxide onto the glaze during manufacturing which acts as a catalyst for a reaction between light, oxygen, and air humidity.  All tiles are suitable for interior as well as exterior applications such as pool coping, patio flooring, or out-door showers. Those of you who adore the monochromatic, European-chic look will be thrilled to see that each mosaic comes in a glossy finish for wall applications and a matte finish for floor applications. Down-size your list of chores but not your personal style.

Tucked among the treasures of West Hildebrand Avenue’s antique row, looms a large oasis on a corner lot. Breezy open fencing surrounds a mystical contemporary garden filled with pottery, statues, and most importantly, bamboo. Big Grass Bamboo has been the go-to spot for San Antonio’s eco-conscious cognoscenti since 2006. Owners John and Duang Hanesworth, “bamboo enthusiasts on a mission” as they call themselves, have established the company as the premier source for sustainable, elegant, stylish and globally friendly merchandise in South Texas.

A recent name change, from Big Grass Bamboo to the more simple Big Grass™, helps reflect the diversity of products available. While Big Grass carries everything from silk textiles to antiques to lanterns to hammocks, the store’s selection ultimately reflects a high-end design sensibility.
“The Thai have a very refined sense of style. Many of our pieces are handcrafted by trained architects who became furniture designers,”
says John Hanesworth.

Already well known for outdoor room furnishings and garden decor, Big Grass is promoting two indoor furniture lines this season that integrate well with different design styles. Both product lines are made of distinctive, long-lasting bamboo. Loi™ (which means “flowing” in Thai)
is fashioned from laminated bamboo strips that are clamped and formed into fluid, contoured pieces. “It’s not instantly recognizable as bamboo,” says Hanesworth. “It actually has a very Scandinavian, contemporary look.” The Sabai™ line is made from solid core (not hollow) bamboo, giving it an appearance much like wood. Big Grass has a full complement of Sabai pieces: living room, dining room and bedroom furniture all featured in-store. Big Grass is the only US source for both furniture lines.

Big Grass may be best known locally for the innovative Ong™ jar. In a region with water shortages and the level of the Edwards Aquifer a major concern, rainwater collection and recycling is becoming increasingly mainstream. With the Ong jars, it can be beautiful as well. The jars are handmade in Thailand from dense concrete, and then custom-stained to match your décor. They can collect hundreds of gallons of water per rainfall, more than enough to water your landscape during the next drought. The only supplier of Ong jars in the US, Big Grass is so committed to rainwater conservation that it has donated several Ongs to area non-profits.

Beyond the sustainability of the objects they sell, Big Grass has another admirable aspect – a commitment to artisans. Working directly with skilled international artisans, the Hanesworths manage to ensure fair compensation, keep local traditions thriving, and maintain competitive prices for South Texas customers. “Many of our artisans are single women running their own businesses, or husband/wife teams. We love exploring Thailand and finding new artists to work with,” adds Hanesworth. In Big Grass, South Texas has the source for authentic, sustainable, stylish objects that are good for the planet.

Big Grass is located at 637 West Hildebrand in San Antonio, Texas. To learn more about their inventory, the artisan families they work with and to get tips about sustainability in practice, call 210.735.7999 or toll-free 877.735.7999, or visit their website at www.biggrassbamboo.com.

Stark announces a new division – Stark Paint, colours by David Oliver. This long-awaited four year collaboration with London based color specialist and designer David Oliver has resulted in an extensive and contemporary designer palette that spans the color spectrum with 240 rich new paint options. We spoke with Ashley Stark and David Oliver about this creative venture.

Why paint?
Ashley: A paint division completes the jigsaw puzzle. Our company has always been a leader in the home furnishings industry, providing outstanding product to designers. We provide carpets, rugs, fabrics, furniture and wallcoverings to our designers. Many of our clients navigate the showroom by color. Often, a desired color initiates the designer’s choices. Paint was a natural progression, and allows us to broaden our spectrum.

Who is David Oliver?
Ashley: David is a published author with Rizzoli, dubbed “the rock star of color” by the New York Times. He is the Design Director of the Paint and Paper Library. He is a leading authority on color and its use in interior decoration.

How did the collaboration between Stark and David Oliver come about?
David: Stark Wallcovering was the North American distributor for the Paint and Paper Library. I had been traveling in the US and visited many of the Stark showrooms while promoting my book. Stark had been in the research and development stages of producing a paint line.
Ashley: When we saw the color palette, we realized David had an extraordinary eye for color. His vision was not to select one color, but rather create a symphony of colors. He created a palette by orchestrating a collection of chromatically arranged colors. They work individually or in succession, to create a coordinated, beautifully simple color scheme. Our discerning clientele would respond to this. His use of color was very different than any American paint manufacturer. His palette creates ease in color selection, and as he says, “eliminating paint analysis paralysis”.

What is VOC FREE? Why is so much emphasis on zero VOC in the base and colorants?
David: Our goal was to make an impact on your walls not the environment. We went through great lengths to find a high quality paint manufacturer that would create a VOC free base that would use organic colorants and natural tints.
Ashley: These ingredients are more expensive than the conventional paint lines that are sold in the “Do It Yourself” stores. Though they may start out zero VOC, once the color is added it is no longer a pure product.

Stark Paint, colours by David Oliver is formulated to be earth friendly and ecologically responsible. When completely dry, Stark Paint, colours by David Oliver is safe for children and pets, protecting our environment and your home for years to come. We continue to strive for quality and excellence, a mission that my grandparents started over 65 years ago. We are a great American company committed to providing eco friendly products that are manufactured in the USA.
